Raymond Potterton Auctioneers and Goffs Country held the auction of Friarstown Stables the Curragh on Wednesday the 8th of November.
In a well-attended room at the Keadeen Hotel the property was offered in 4 lots and the entire. All lots received biding including the entire. After a number of rounds of bidding it was decided to place two of the lots on the market where 73 acres and a training yard sold for €1,900,000 or €26,000 per acre and 37 acres sold for €900,000 or €24,300 per acre. Lot 4 (50 acres) was withdrawn at €950,000 and was sold immediately afterward.
David Hanlon of Pelham properties was the successful buyer of 110 acres on the day acting in trust for an overseas client. Lot 1 being 90 acres and a training yard has been retained by the vendor who is the highly respected and classic winning trainer Mr Kevin Prendergast and will be put to good use for the coming season.
